Do My Pumpkins Look Big in This?

When thinking up a piece for Halloween and Sugar Spooks this year I wanted to be less spook and horror (because that is just not me) and more fun and playful and a little bit naughty. I came across a comic image on Pinterest that automatically got my attention and I knew I wanted to recreate it in sugar for my Spooks piece.   So here she is!   I entitled my piece “Do my Pumpkins Look Big in This?, because really isn’t that that scariest question of them all and not just at Halloween but at any time of the year??!

My piece is hand modelled from fondant to create the female figure and then her skeleton costume was hand painted on using Sweet Sticks edible art paint.   Her pumpkins then became part of her costume and they really are the protagonist to this whole piece!    A simple backdrop of a starry night sky was created with splattered spray painting and she came together just in time for Sugar Spooks v5!
