Welcome to Sugar Screams, a collaboration of sugar artists from around the world celebrating their favorite holiday, Halloween!
It started with a simple desire to create an over-the-top Halloween cake. It wasn’t until Avalon was inspired by one of the first sugar artist collaborations, “Cakenweenie”, that the idea for a Halloween Collaboration was born. It was created in 2013 and was one of the first collaborations on the scene. It has become a yearly tradition in the sugar art community with some of the best sugar artists in the world.
Why collaborations? Rarely do we receive orders for those over the top show stoppers for the holiday, so we took matters into our own hands! A chance to flex our creative muscles and “play with our food”. From over-the-top gore to sweet and fun Halloween cakes.. we’ve got them all covered. Coming together as a group to celebrate each other’s art and bring our art to the rest of the community with an impact.
These are not your average desserts — these are edible pieces of ART. Hours and hours are poured into these creations, so be sure to give some special attention to each one.
From all us… we THANK YOU for all your support and love!
Happpppppppy Halloween!

This Halloween cake collaboration was created, organized and lead by Avalon Yarnes.
Avalon Yarnes owns Avalon Cakes School of Sugar Art, an online platform for cake and sugar art enthusiasts to learn and explore. She’s also the woman behind The Cake and Cookie Planner, an award-winning line of products for planning and sketching cakes and cookies. Avalon found her love for art at a young age, but it wasn’t until she began her first job at fifteen that she found her love for baking. Her passion lies in presenting cake in a form only formally reserved for traditional sculpture, brush, and paper. She found her “happy place” bringing both art forms together. Avalon learned how to create cakes and sugar art through experience and experimentation. She has had the honor of being awarded Best Novelty Cakes Artist and one of the Top 10 Cake Artists of North America. You can also find her on television shows like Food Network Challenge and Duff Till Dawn. Her work can be found featured in top bakery blogs, magazines and books.
Corinna Maguire is a cake enthusiast from Lovin’ from the Oven on the West coast of Ireland. She has published a Gourmand awarded book – The Celtic Cakers, appeared on the Food Network’s Halloween Wars and won The Rising Star award from Cake Masters. She now splits her time between creating edible pieces and teaching her popular classes, both internationally and closer to home.
Milka is 38 years old, married and based in Munich, Germany. By day she works as a marketing and campaign manager for the biggest car association in Europe, by night her heart beats for sugar art. Milka was always passionate about art and when she fell in love with sugar art in 2014, she finally found her perfect canvas! In 2016 she entered her first competition and was awarded a bronze medal. Along with being involved in numerous worldwide cake collaborations – in 2019 she went on to host the scarily amazing Americake Horror Story Collab which was twice nominated for the prestigious Cake Masters Award and also twice named as one of Global Sugar Artists favorite collaborations of the year. Milkas classes, whether it be at shows or closer to home, are always a fun, crazy and infectious experience.
