Dangerously Rusty
Dr. Cakenstein’s secret laboratory immediately inspired me to write a story. On an old, rusty surgical tray, tools molded from sugar paste, such as a cannula, forceps, and a scalpel, lie ready to begin creating new life. Other handcrafted tools, such as rusty nails, a hammer, and hinges, help hold the newly created life together. Of course, cans of ether and poison are also included, to implement the last note in the lab notebook: “Tonight… I’ll try to wake him up.”
