From a sculptor’s point of view I’ve always been fascinated by shrunken heads. The contorted features, the different textures of skin, the odd looking hair (it doesn’t shrink) but studying them closely you become very aware of them being actual humans. That lived lives. Every one is unique and while their end came violently I like to think that they live on albeit it in very macabre way.

A lot of museums no longer display human heads but when they did they were often on poles, grouped together. Exactly like a coconut shy in a creepy carnevil circus…
