The bear trap
Uniformity was required for the 28 spikes of this bear trap. I hand carved one spike using Renshaw sugarpaste with the addition of tylo. I let this harden over a few days and then made a mould from it which worked perfectly then to allow me to make all spikes the exact same height and size. Making of the chain was probably the most fiddley part of this creation. When I had finished making the bear trap, it was too squeaky clean and brand new looking so I then used silver and bronze metallic dusts and brown, terracotta and black dusts to give it an aged look. Great fun!
